Asking for money has never been easy. It is with great reluctance that Matt does so now. He'd much rather share his magical wonders with you for free, but, like everyone else, Matt needs to eat and pay bills. And he still hasn't found the winning lottery numbers.
The deal
It’s simple. You offer a bit of loose change a month. Matt gives you wonders and insights into the Japanese language. He eats food within its sell-by date, doesn’t sleep in a cardboard box wrapped in a blue vinyl sheet. You hopefully learn something cool. Everyone wins.
The why
Writers are often told, "don't quit the day job," and for good reason.
Matt didn't quit his day job. In 2020, his job quit him. One February morning, the company he worked for vanished in a big ball of bankruptcy. Since then, Matt is repeatedly told he is "too old" or "on the wrong bit of rock" to turn Japanese words into English words with an internet-connected computer for a steady pay cheque. Now, he's turning to his creative ideas and you in the slim hope of eking out an existence.
